Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone wheeling or riding at BMRA to stay on or very close to the trails.
I hooked up with a couple of mc riders Sunday from Texarkana. While climbing the hill just west of Camp Mabee (Big Nasty) one of the guys got bounced off the trail. As he was making his way back to the trail he ran over and stirred-up a ground nest of hornets, wasps or bees. A large cloud boiled out of the ground under him and commenced stinging anything and everything in site. He had at least 30 bees on his back, arms and legs when I got to him. Luckily he isn't allergic (severely) to bee stings, otherwise this might have been his last mc ride. I was only stung 3 times while trying to drag his bike out of the cloud, luckily. Be careful out there. Regards, Chris

Thanks for the heads-up. Might be a good idea to destroy the nest with wasp spray, if it can be located, so they don't proliferate. I saw a show on TV where just about every mesquite tree in a field near West, TX, had a wasp nest in it - some very large.

I know the exact tree where they're located. I'll check in the office to see if there is any commercial spray on-hand. If not, a good dousing with diesel would do the trick.
TP - I don't think I was quite risking my life in this instance....but it did get the heart rate up though! I hate to think of the likely outcome had that been a child that was attacked. My dad was extremely allergic to bee stings and went into anaphylactic shock several times after being bitten. He was lucky to get out of the woods and make it to a hospital. Bee safe....good one! CJ

I would just get an approved wasp spray, instead of using diesel.
